Returning to school January 2022
FINAL UPDATE: On site asymptomatic COVID testing at the start of next term
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS AN UPDATED VERSION OF THIS REMINDER:
Many of you will have seen via the media that students are now required to wear face coverings in classrooms from the start of this term. As we were already doing so at John Hanson, this will continue when students return. Please make sure that your child has a face covering, and a spare, with them each day.
During the Christmas break the guidance regarding lateral flow testing for anyone who had tested positive for COVID has changed. You will be aware that if you test positive you can now leave self-isolation early if you test negative on days 6 and 7 of self-isolation.
As such, we no longer need to know about students who have tested positive from 8thOctober onwards.
Please see the detail at the bottom of the parent mail to check if you need to complete the linked form.
You will be aware from all the information in the press that schools have been asked to test all students on their return to school at the beginning of next term. At John Hanson, we will be structuring this testing as follows:
Tuesday 4th January 2022
All students are to take their normal Tuesday saliva test and bring it in to school at some point between 9am and midday. We will have staff stationed in our main hall to receive the tests so we know which students have taken them. Students will not be expected to stay at school after dropping off their test. If it is more convenient for a parent/carer to drop off the test then please do so. If there are multiple children in the family who attend John Hanson, and/or one parent/carer wishes to drop off tests from their child and that of their friends/neighbours, this will not be a problem.
PLEASE MAKE SURE THE PERSON DROPPING OFF THE SALIVA TESTR IS WEARING A FACE COVERING.
Students will be set remote learning to complete on this date.
Wednesday 5th January 2022
In order that any positive cases are detected before students return to school students will remain at home on Wednesday 5th January. Remote learning will be set for this date.
Thursday 6th January 2022
All students are expected to return to school on Thursday 6th January. Any students who do not drop off a saliva test on Tuesday 4th January will be expected to take an on-site lateral flow test when they arrive at school on Thursday 6th January.
For this, hopefully small group, it is important that we are aware of any parents/carers who do not give consent for onsite lateral flow testing.
ONLY complete the form linked to this parent mail if:
You DO NOT give consent for onsite testing
Your child tested positive on or after 24th December 2021 and did not test
